To Kill A Mockingbird #5 Perspective: Aunt Alexandra

I could not believe my ears when Atticus asked me if I could live with them for a little while to help make Scout more lady like. I just could not believe it, I did not know how to take it, like if I should help out or not. This was because after all of these years he just now asks me to try to help Jean Louise become a proper young lady. I mean shes alomst twelve years old now and still acts like a dirty little boy! I already know this is going to be a tough one. Gosh, she curses like crazy, she dresses in overalls, and he gets into fights! She will have to be nice and clean everyday and not play dirty and I’m pretty sure that will never happen. Atticus doesn’t raise his children correctly, and I know this because, if he did Jean Louise and Jeremy wouldn’t be a disgrace to our family. Atticus should have stood up and been a man, and married after his wifes death. If he would have done this then Jean Louise could have been influenced to be more like a lady or at least a little girl. For Christmas Atticus got her an a BB gun! What kind of present is that for a little girl? He should have at least got her a tea set or something like that. If he wants her to start acting like a lady he has to start treating her like a lady. Not letting her run wild like a little grimlin like a wild hound.
